The Hoot invites journalists covering the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in Delhi to apply for a short-term fellowship to investigate and report on government policy regarding amendments to the IT Act which impact free speech.
The value of the fellowship will range from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1 lakh depending on the number of stories done. The fellowship could extend over a period of two months. The stories would have to be used in the publications they work for, as well as reprinted on the Hoot. Journalists have to be Delhi-based, and will have to take permission from their publication to apply for it.
This fellowship is not intended for writings based on internet research and secondary sources. It is essentially meant for beat reporters, to incentivise reporting on this important subject based on sources in the Ministry and other government bodies.
