The Times of India published an article titled "Panel to draft intellectual property policy riddled with conflict of interest” on Dec 1, 2014, and took it down a short while later. The story was on an intellectual property think tank set up by the government, a six-member panel with no representation from independent academics or civil society groups. (A cached version of the article is available here.) It said that some members of the think tank had serious conflict of interest issues. One of them is finance minister Arun Jaitley’s niece. Another member is lawyer Pratibha Singh who has done IP cases for the Times Group. Why was the story taken down?
