| MORE MEDIA WATCH BRIEFS | | Inspired by Ruchika | | Soap makers have moved on to real life police cases. A new soap to hit the screens soon is apparently based on the infamous Ruchika Girhotra molestation and suicide case. Actor Ashutosh Rana has been roped in to play a role that seems inspired by the ex Haryana DGP SPS Rathore. Titled ''Kali - Ek Agnipariksha' this Star Plus creation revolves around a young badminton player and a powerful businessman.

| Protest against award | | Siddharth Varadarajan of the Hindu has written to the jury which gave the Indian News Broadcasting Award for News Reporter of the Year 2010, Hindi, to Neeta Sharma of NDTV India, protesting at the choice. He says this was the reporter who had written a false story in the Hindustan Times calling Iftikhar Gilani an ISI agent some years ago. The story contributed to the journalist's incarceration and caused Gilani no end of trouble, but the reporter and the paper never published an apology for it.
